We found this little gem by accident when avoiding traffic on the M1 travelling north to Derby. Loved the cook shop – you’ll easily find anything you need here. Also tried the restaurant a couple of times and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Worth a trip just to visit the shops. WYF0, Watford, Trip Advisor

We make a point of breaking a long journey here, as it is a pleasure to not be treated to the same shops or coffee stop as almost every other ‘stopover type’. Good coffee at Darlingtons as well as the selection of cakes etc. if desired. Also a great little place to give the legs a stretch with different and well stocked shops. Just a short walk from our canal mooring to this lovely shopping area. The setting is very pretty and the cleanest public toilets I’ve ever used. We had coffee and cake in the garden served by attentive happy staff. Some shops selling different goods from the usual high street fare. First time I’ve seen a shop stocking Masai clothing so I was in heaven. A very pleasurable visit with lovely staff in every shop. It also helped that the sun was shining. Well worth a visit.
