This weekend the A5 is closed (South) from the new bypass roundabout (Weedon side) to Heart of the Shires Shopping Village. Local diversions are marked – and will take you through some delightful little villages. The North side – A5 from Kilsby is open as normal. Thank you.

Official details are as follows:
We are planning to carry out resurfacing this weekend to the final section of Phase 3 and into Phase 4 by approximately 100 metres i.e. near to the lay-by on the northbound carriageway.

Extending to near the lay-by on the northbound carriageway will take us approximately 100 metres past The Heart of The Shires entrance.

NB: Vehicle access will only be available from the north during these works.

The sequence of works, which have been planned to allow access to The Heart of The Shires during your normal business hours on both Saturday and Sunday, is as follows:

8pm Friday 6th – 10am Saturday 7th September – Mill whole area of carriageway, lay base and binder courses to area of carriageway in Phase 4 and across The Heart of The Shires entrance.

During these works the northern hard closure point will be north of the lay-by.

10am – 8pm Saturday 7th September – lay base and binder courses to rest of carriageway south of The Heart of The Shires entrance.

During these works the northern hard closure point will be south of The Heart of The Shires entrance.

8pm Saturday 7th – 10am Sunday 8th September – lay surface course to whole area of carriageway.

During these works the northern hard closure point will be north of the lay-by.

Following these works the northern hard closure point will be south of The Heart of The Shires entrance.

8pm – 12 midnight Sunday 8th September – reinstate road markings.

During these works the northern hard closure point will be north of the lay-by.

This sequence will allow access to Heart of The Shires over binder course during your normal hours of business between 10am and 5pm on Saturday.

As this is not the final surface there will be raised ironwork and no road markings.

Temporary signs will be in place to warn of raised ironwork and no road markings.

Access will be over the finished surface course during their normal hours of business between 10am and 5pm on Sunday.
