The 1867 restaurant at Heart of the Shires is now closed following the sale of the business.

More space, more choice, more reasons to visit Heart of the Shires.
This move, following an agreed private business sale, has been welcomed so positively by both our tenants and visitors.

We would like to thank Paul Campbell for all his efforts and wish him well with his many other business ventures, including an excellent Estate Agency, Campbells Estate Agents and an Art Studio, The Artizen that can be found at Heart of the Shires.

1867 at heart of the shires has been sold

The past few years we have been extremely concerned that people who have visited the site – some for the very first time – have left frustrated by something as simple as NOT being able to buy a cuppa. Our hands were tied with a serving food and drink exclusivity clause held by the restaurant in a leased building. In other words, we owned the site but could not offer any other food or drink, without the restaurant owners permission.

We too have been frustrated, just like you and have read and listened to every single comment many, many customers and on-site retailers gave us and have now made the positive changes in order for Heart of the Shires to finally thrive, for all.

The 1867 restaurant was up for sale for a long time before Heart of the Shires put an offer in and it was mutually agreed by all parties. Therefore it was a business sale. There was no eviction, simply a legal framework to conclude the deal quicker and move forward in the best interests of our visitors. Simply put, anyone could have bought the restaurant but the Heart of the Shires bid was accepted.

Say hello to The Tea Room, located in the main farmhouse (with the same staff – yes they have all been TUPE, following the sale of the business – and the same menu, using the same suppliers as previous) and The Tea Room Too, a brand new facility within the extended area to the southside of the site.

These changes will fundamentally transform the whole Heart of the Shires site into a far better visitor experience and we’d invite you to judge for yourself. No pressure, apart from perhaps, one of our brand new coffee machines, offering opportunities for all. Coffee anyone? The answer at Heart of the Shires, from now on will now be a huge YES.
